We Remember - 9/11 Memorial Ceremony and Patriot Run

USAG Benelux is honoring the lives lost on the morning of September 11, 2001. 

On the morning of September 11, 2021, members of our united communities will gather to observe a moment of silence, participate in a remembrance ceremony and then walk/run 3/5km in remembrance of fallen heroes. This year marks the 20th anniversary. 

In the community of Chièvres, we are creating a unique remembrance experience to recognize the events of September 11.  

•Black memorial walls (reminiscent of the Vietnam Veteran’s Monument in Washington DC) provide an opportunity for photographs of various memorials to be posted, as well as a place for visitors to place their personal memories.

•Pairs of boots (Soldier and firefighters) line the stage, representative of the lives of Soldiers and first responders lost (reminiscent of the Ft. Campbell “Boots” Memorial). 

•Civilian shoes outline the circle holding the stage, representative of the lives of civilians lost (reminiscent of the “Shoes on the Danube” Holocaust Memorial in Budapest).

At the conclusion of the Remembrance Event, we will move to the starting line of the 2021 Patriot Run.
