The History of the Bene Brew Café and Pub
One rainy Belgium evening, the MWR team was working late going over budgets for Family and MWR facilities. It was dark and cold and we were tired after a long day at the office. As we turned the heat up, someone mentioned a steaming hot cup of coffee would be nice. Another said, "I'm ready for a drink!"
Needing a break from the numbers, now dancing on the page, we began discussing our options and soon discovered there were none. I was feeling a bit homesick as I began reciting a long list of favorite places "back home". We unanimously agreed that Chievres Air Base needed a café and pub! While brainstorming potential names that would identify both a café and pub, Bene Brew was mentioned. Voilà, the name Bene Brew was established on a cold, rainy night in 2017.
Some colleagues moved on, some remained, but we never forgot our vision. Fast forward to 2020. During quarantine, I pulled out my vision board. There it was, boldly jumping off the page, front and center and screaming for acknowledgment. Bene Brew.
