Child and Youth Services (CYS) provides programs and services for children of eligible military and civilian families. Within CYS you will find something to meet your children’s needs, including:

Today’s CYS programs, deemed a "model for the nation" by Presidential acclaim, continue to operate on these cornerstones:

Child Development Center
What type of programs are available for my child?
We currently have Full-Day, Part-Day Strong Beginnings, and Hourly Care. Full-Day spaces are available from 6AM-6PM. Part-Day Strong Beginnings is available to children who meet the US kindergarten cut-off date, which is August 31. Hourly Care is available in two hour increments.
On what dates is the Child Development Center (CDC) closed?
The CDC is closed on Belgian national holidays, the Friday before US President's Day (February), and on US Columbus Day (October).
How and when can I book hourly care?
After completing registration with Parent Central Services and an orientation at the Child Development Center, hourly care reservations may be booked at the CDC front desk, either in person or via telephone. We accept reservations 30 days in advance.
Are my children eligible for care at the Child Development Center?
Parent Central Services would be happy to assist you in determining eligibility for our different child care options. Parent Central Services is located in building 503 and can be reached telephonically at DSN 423 6039/6097 or Civilian 065.44.6039/6097.
What type of meals are offered?
All the meals are prepared at the Child Development Center following USDA standards. In order to promote language and cognitive skills, fine motor skills and positive social interactions, we participate in family style dining in all classrooms. Children under 12 months are on individual feeding schedules developed between parents and caregivers.
What types of activities will be child be engaged in throughout the day?
At the Child Development Center we focus on activities that are developmentally appropriate and individualized to your child's specific needs. We use our classroom environments to promote self-confidence, creativity and self-discipline. Creative Curriculum is used in all classrooms throughout the CDC. Creative Curriculum focuses on the following six domains: social, physical, language/literacy, cognitive/intellectual, emotional, and cultural.

What care options at the School Age Center (SAC) are available for my child?
We offer full time before and after school care and hourly care as needed.
Can my child attend the School Age Center if they do not go to the American school??
Yes! We offer care for all of the schools on SHAPE. If you have access to MWR, you have access to CYS!
Where do I register for the before/after school program and/or hourly care?
All CYS registration takes place at Parent Central Services in building 503, SHAPE.
What kinds of activities are offered by at the School Age Center?
We offer different activities every day! We have clubs that meet once per week, for example: cooking club, Minecraft club, art club, and physical fitness club. On days that your child does not have a club meeting, we offer homework club every afternoon. Other activities include computer lab, lego activities, and many more!
Does the School Age Center offer care during school breaks??
Yes we do! We offer camps during holiday breaks and in the summer! You can register for camp, by week, at Parent Central Services. But, be prompt, slots fill up quickly!
