Building a Positive Sports Experience for All

At Youth Sports & Fitness, we believe that sports should be fun, safe, and rewarding for every child. To create a positive experience, we ask all parents, players, and coaches to follow our sportsmanship guidelines and participation rules.

Sportsmanship Requirements

All parents and guardians must complete Sportsmanship Training before registering their child for Youth Sports. This ensures everyone understands the values of respect, teamwork, and fair play.

The NAYS (National Alliance for Youth Sports) Code of Ethics outlines standards for coaches and officials, emphasizing player safety, fair play, respect, and responsible conduct. It includes commitments such as prioritizing children’s well‑being, avoiding drugs/alcohol at youth events, practicing first aid, teaching rules, and modeling sportsmanship.

NAYS Coaches’ Code of Ethics

According to the National Alliance for Youth Sports, coaches pledge to:

  • Place players’ emotional and physical well‑being above winningvsportngin.com

  • Treat each player as an individual, recognizing varied developmental levels. sportngin.com

  • Provide a safe playing environment.

  • Review and practice basic first aid principles.

  • Organize fun and challenging practices.

  • Demonstrate fair play and sportsmanship.

  • Avoid cheating or unethical behavior.

  • Maintain a drug‑, tobacco‑, and alcohol‑free environment at youth sports events.

  • Know and teach the rules of the sport.

  • Use age‑appropriate coaching techniques.

  • Remember that youth sports are for children, not adults. teamsideline.comteamsideline.com

NAYS Officials’ Code of Ethics

  • Encourage good sportsmanship and positive support for all participants.

  • Be knowledgeable of rules and apply them fairly.

  • Avoid allowing personal relationships to influence decisions.

  • Refrain from tobacco and alcohol use in youth sports environments.

  • Prioritize children’s safety above all else. sportngin.com
